| Nordic Journal of Commercial Law was established
in 2003 as an Internet-based, semi-annual publication.
The NJCL is offered as a public service by the University
of Turku Faculty of Law and is sponsored by Hannes Snellman
Attorneys at Law Ltd of Finland.
The
purpose of the NJCL is to publish peer-reviewed, high
quality articles, commentaries and notes on current
topics of commercial law written by notable legal scholars
and practitioners. The reader of the NJCL, whether a
practitioner of law or a member of academia or the business
community, will find the content of the NJCL up-to-date
on current issues in commercial law, international in
scope and easily accessible on the Internet.
While
informing the reader about developments in the field
of commercial law in Nordic countries, the NJCL accepts
submissions from authors around the globe. The editors
would like to welcome you to read the NCJL and would
be glad to hear your comments. Please submit your communications

About the first edition
The
first edition of NJCL is dedicated to Professor Albert
H. Kritzer, Executive Secretary, Institute of International
Commercial Law of the Pace University School of Law.
Without Professor Kritzer's support and dedication Nordic
Journal of Commercial Law would not exist.
Professor
Kritzer has dedicated his entire career to the advancement
of international commercial law - first as a practitioner
and then as a member of the academic community.
Professor
Kritzer has served as General Electric Counsel of International
Sales Operations, General Electric Division Counsel
of Construction Materials Division, General Electric
Division Counsel of Television Division and Counsel
of Hotpoint Major Appliance Operations Deputy Division
Counsel of GE Major Appliances. He also practiced law
at Donovan, Leisure, Newton & Irvine of New York
and has acted as U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate.
In
his academic career Professor Kritzer has served as
the Executive Secretary of the Institute of International
Commercial Law of Pace University School of Law. He
brought to the Pace University School of Law and set
in place an Internet Website on uniform international
commercial law www.cisg.law.pace.edu,
a Moot on international commercial arbitration and uniform
international commercial law www.cisg.law.pace.edu/vis.html,
and an Essay Competition on uniform international commercial
law www.cisg.law.pace.edu/cisg/text/essay.html.
This work has earned the Website 2002 Award of the International
Association of Law Libraries and the Award for Distinction
in International Law and Affairs of the International
Law and Practice Section of the New York State Bar Association,
award previous presented to U.S. Secretary of State
Cyrus R. Vance, UN Secretary General Boutros-Boutros
Ghali, Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, and Polish
President Lech Walesa.
Professor
Kritzer graduated from College of William and Mary with
B.A. in Economics in 1948. He also studied at the University
of Zurich, Switzerland. He earned his law degree from
Cornell Law School, J.D. with distinction, 1951 (Phi
Kappa Phi, Order of the Coif). He has been a Member
of the New York Bar since 1952 and Member of the Bar
of the United States Supreme Court since 1955.
The
Board of Editors and the University of Turku faculty
of law would like to extend their deepest gratitude

of Nordic Journal of Commercial Law.
